The Making Home Affordable Program is part of the federal government’s comprehensive plan to stabilize the U.S. Housing market. Eligible families may be able to refinance or modify their current mortgage to a more affordable monthly payment. Through this program, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will allow the refinancing of qualified mortgage loans that they own or that they placed in mortgage backed securities.
