Oftentimes, market catalysts can only be recognized after they have occurred (i.e., the pandemic). Looking ahead at the next 12 months, however, we believe that historically reliable market signals are suggesting a difficult economic environment. 2022 was an inflation and interest-rate-driven bear market. Both will remain front and center, but investors appear to be shifting from worries about rising inflation and interest rates to worries about economic and earnings growth.
