A Summer of Learning, Leadership and Growth: Justin Vasquez’s BMT Internship

Sadie: To start, can you tell me a little about yourself?

Justin: I’m Justin Vasquez, a rising senior at Penn State University pursuing dual degrees in
Finance and Accounting, with a minor in International Business. Outside of the classroom,
I’m involved with the Penn State Wealth Management Association and serve as the Alumni
Relations Chair for my fraternity, Sigma Pi.

Sadie: This summer you’re interning with the Wealth Management team at Bryn Mawr
Trust. Can you tell me about your role and what your experience has been like so far?

Justin: Yes, I’m a Wealth Management Intern working in the Berwyn office. I work closely
with Senior Vice Presidents and Wealth Directors Donald Lyons and Angela Wagner, along
with advisors and interns across the department. Everyone is so approachable and willing
to help me learn, and I’ve really enjoyed the collaborative environment.

Sadie: How did you know spending the summer with BMT was the right choice?

Justin: I was initially drawn to BMT because of its strong community and culture. I first
learned about the company through the Wealth Management Association at Penn State,
and after joining this summer, I saw those values in action. What stands out most is how
eager everyone is to collaborate, regardless of title or department. As an intern, I’ve felt like
my questions and ideas are valued, which has created a great learning environment.

Sadie: Looking back on your experience so far, is there a specific project or
accomplishment that you’re especially proud of?

Justin: The project I’m most excited about is our intern capstone project, which is focused
on the company’s “Summer of Efficiency” initiative. Our goal is to identify processes that
can be automated or streamlined, so advisors can spend more time with clients and less
time on administrative tasks. It’s been rewarding to help develop ideas that could create
lasting improvements.

Sadie: What’s been the most valuable experiences you’ve had this summer?

Justin: One of the most valuable experiences has been learning directly from wealth
professionals. I’ve been able to work alongside advisors, directors, executives, and team
members with years of experience. Beyond technical skills, observing how they approach
client relationships, problem solving, and teamwork has taught me lessons that simply
can’t be replicated in a classroom setting.

Sadie: For future interns, what advice would you share to help them make the most of
the experience?

Justin: Put your best foot forward from day one and don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to
people. Building relationships has been one of the most valuable parts of my internship. Be
proactive, ask questions, volunteer to help, and take advantage of opportunities to learn.
The experience is equally about the relationships you build as well as the work you
complete, and both have helped shape my vision for my future career.
