Bryn Mawr Trust’s Internship Experience Pushes Jordan Walter Pelzer Out of Comfort Zone

Integrity is a critical trait for any financial planner, but at Bryn Mawr Trust, it’s non-negotiable for everyone, including interns. That experience has been central to Jordan Walter Pelzer’s experience as a Wealth Management Intern with the company.

Coming into the summer, Pelzer’s goal was to discover the type of leader he wanted to become. Through teamwork, project leadership and networking with BMT and WSFS Associates, he says he’s able to walk away with confidence, clarity and a stronger sense of his career trajectory.

“This internship pushes me out of my comfort zone, whether it’s speaking in front of a group or leading a project,” said Pelzer, who will graduate from Temple University’s Fox School of Business next year. “I’ve been able to sharpen my strengths, learn by observing from experienced professionals and gain real insight into the career I’m pursuing.”

As a financial planning major, Pelzer knew he wanted to become a Certified Financial Planner. During his summer with the company, he’s built upon his knowledge to make him more qualified to pass the exam. His weekly work consists of investment calls, working with the Retirement Plan Services team to service existing Clients and attract prospective ones and learning the Investment Policy Statement process, from drafting to delivering. He also works with eMoney planning, trust and investment reviews.

Long term, Pelzer wants to use his skillset to be an advocate and resource in his community by helping others take meaningful steps towards their goals. It’s a trait he noticed in his own manager, Donald Lyons, who serves as BMT’s Wealth Director. Pelzer says it’s what brought him to BMT in the first place.

“Donald’s integrity, leadership and genuineness left a lasting impression inspiring me to surround myself with like-minded professionals,” said Pelzer.
